Chapter Two:Action

Sorry I didn’t post last Friday. To make up for it I will post the next chapter either tomorrow or at the end of the day.

Chapter 2: Action

As I laid on my bed the only thought was to call someone, anyone, and ask them if they could help. I thought about my best friend, Amelia but she was in Boston for the weekend and she didn’t have a phone and most likely wasn’t using her laptop. But then I remembered, “Well have fun, and DON’T TELL ANYONE!”

This didn’t make any sense, if my parents were going away they would have had a family member come to watch me, or sent me to my friend’s house. I take it back. I wouldn’t ever accept this and go on my business. Then all of a sudden I heard a knock at the door. My parents told me to never answer the door. But they weren’t there so I had to answer it. I went down stairs and opened the door and started to say “Can I help you?”

But a man with a long black beard cut me off. I just stared and he said“ Listen I am not here to hurt you! You understand!?”

I nodded.

“ Now listen my boss told me to deliver this package to you. I don’t know what it is, I don’t know you, and you never saw me got it?”

I didn’t nod fast enough.

“I said you got it?”

I was about to nod when my cat came running in and hissed at the man. His eyes grew wide. He dropped the package and ran like his life depended on it.

“Good girl.”

I said and patted her on the head. I picked up the package and opened it. There was a piece of paper inside it so I pulled it out to find that it wasn’t a piece of paper at all, it was a really thin tablet. When I pressed the power button a message appeared. “ I will keep your parents hostage unless you bring one million dollars in the next 7 days. Come meet me in Maine, there will be someone there waiting for you.”

I looked at the message and had to read it another 5 times before I really understood what it meant. But then I thought all I have to do is bring this to the police and they will find my parents. But then the message fizzled out and the screen went black. Before I could think the tablet started to smoke.  Then I realized it was going to explode so I grabbed it and threw it in the trash.  I grabbed the lid and threw it on top. The trashcan started to shake and my cat was sitting next to it staring.

Skyler come!” I said and she ran to me.

I ran to the corner of the living room, and grabbed my cat just as the trash can exploded. Food and plastic flew everywhere. I screamed. When I walked into the kitchen, it was in flames, along with a hole in my wall and my neighbor’s wall. Then my neighbors started screaming at me in some language that I didn’t understand. I didn’t have any idea what to do. My cat was on my shoulder meowing in my ear. Then I had an idea so insane I couldn’t believe it was mine. I was going to Maine to save my parents and I was bringing my cat with me.
