Hello this is my first post. I am writing a book and every Friday I am going write a chapter every week. Also every week I will do a recap of the last chapter. The last thing I am going to say is that when you read this leave in mind a title for my book because I haven’t figured one out yet. Thanks and enjoy.
Chapter 1: Name Mistake
When I woke up that morning I thought it was going to be a normal day. My parents would be downstairs waiting. Drinking their coffee and talking about sports. My cat would soon be my alarm clock and jump on me and wake me up at exactly six o’ clock. But as I waited in my bed the clock turned to six and my cat wasn’t there. Soon it was six thirty and if I didn’t get up I was going to miss the bus. So I got up, got dressed and went downstairs. My cat was in her carrier.
“Hey Skyler!” I said as I let her out. She licked my finger and jumped on my shoulder.
“Why didn’t you wake me up?” I said. She started purring and gently wrapped her tail around my neck. “No seriously why?” I said.
She stopped purring and sat on my shoulder. A signal for me to put her down. I picked her up and put her down on the floor. She skipped up to the table and jumped on it. As she did this I noticed that my parents were not sitting at the table. The only reason that they wouldn’t be there would be that they were both sick. But I highly doubted that they were both too sick to tell me about it. My cat trotted back with a piece of paper in her mouth and dropped it on the floor. Then she looked at me, as if to say “Read it”. I picked up the note and read,
“ Dear Natalya,
Your father and I have decided to leave town for a while. Well actually for a month. We didn’t tell you because well, you love school and we didn’t want to take that away from you. We put Skyler in her carrier so that she wouldn’t try to go wake you up and have you stop us. We wanted you to get all the sleep you could. There are some eggs and grits in the refrigerator and there is cereal on the counter next to the milk and plenty of microwave meals. It should last you a month. Well have fun and, DON’T TELL ANYONE!
With lots of love,
I would have accepted this letter and went on with my business. I would have gave my cat some food and a hug, eaten some cereal and went to school. But something didn’t sit right with me. I didn’t figure it out at first. So I went to my laptop and went to check the time. But then I saw the date. It was Saturday. I smiled, closed my laptop, ran to my bed and jumped on it. My cat doing the same.
But then it hit me right in the face. This was a fact that was so obvious that I was disappointed that I didn’t see it before, my name was not Natalya, it was Natalie. The person that should know that the best out of all people would be the very person who wrote that note, my mother.
