Chapter 4: The Big Question

“Haha, I’ve always wanted to say that.” the man said.

“Listen,” I said calmly, “Just put the hammer down and then we can talk.”

“ Oh this old thing, I’m not going to hurt you, just that evil cat of yours.”

I stood in shock. “Please don’t hurt her” I said.

But right after I said that the women behind me jumped in front of me.

“Don’t hurt it” she said and slowly walked up him, “The girl has been through enough already.”

“Alright.” He said and dropped the hammer.

I was just about done.

“Listen up you two, I have had just about enough. First I wake up and my parents are missing. Then you come and give me a tablet with a message on it, which I might add that it exploded and left a giant hole in my kitchen. Now I am standing next to my bike staring at you two crazy people talking to each other like nothing happened. I deserve some kind of explanation!”

They stood there like I had just punched them in the face, knocked them over, and run them over with a truck. They looked at each other and sighed. Then the women walked over to me.

“Yes your right, you do deserve an explanation. So I will give you one. My name is Natalya, and the man over there who refuses to shave his face, he’s my brother, Damian. The same thing happened to us when we were little. But we never got our parents back, because we didn’t get to Maine in time. Now they are still being held hostage. So we have to work for their captures to keep them alive. That is why we kidnapped your parents. But..”

“But we are tired of it.” Damian said, “We wanna end this once and for all. So that’s why we are helping you. If we get these people busted, then we will get our parents back.”

“Okay.” I said “But there is just one thing I don’t understand, why did you hide behind me when Damian came around the corner?”

They looked at each other. But then Natalya looked me dead in the eye.

“It’s a long story, but I have an extreme fear of hammers.”

Then she turned around and walked over to her brother. I looked down at my cat who was now awake and trying staring at me. I petted her on the head and picked her up and put her on my shoulder. Then they both walked over to me.

“So, are you willing to let us help you?”
